Privacy & data protection
The standard this site holds itself to
We teach schools that no student data should ever go near a consumer tool or a public form. This site is held to exactly that standard, and this page describes it plainly, because the audience for this page checks.
No student data is ever collected through this site
No student names. No examples containing real pupil work. No uploads of assessments with names on them. There is no upload facility on this site at all, deliberately.
Where teachers submit their own assessments before a session, that happens through the school’s own systems, agreed with the school’s data protection lead, never through a public form. If you receive anything claiming to be from us that asks for pupil data through a web form, it is not from us.
What the forms on this site collect
The booking form collects your name, role, school, country, staff numbers, phase, format of interest, preferred term, whether a policy exists, what prompted the enquiry and your work email. The Policy Pack form collects school, name, role, email and billing details. The newsletter form collects only your email address.
Each submission is emailed to enquiries@skylighteducation.com and used only to respond to you. Every checkbox on this site is unchecked by default, and marketing consent is always separate from an enquiry: sending a booking enquiry does not subscribe you to anything.
Consent records
With each form submission we store a consent record containing the timestamp, your IP address, the page the form was sent from, the exact wording shown beside the checkbox and a version identifier for that wording, and your email address. We keep these records so we can demonstrate what you agreed to and when. They are stored outside the public web directory on our server and are not shared.
The newsletter
The termly note is sent about once a term and never more often. Subscribing is double opt-in: after you enter your address we email you a confirmation link, and only clicking it adds you to the list. Unconfirmed requests expire after 48 hours and are deleted. Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Unsubscribing from the newsletter never affects booking confirmations, invoices or session materials, which are sent because you bought something, not because you subscribed to anything.
Retention and your rights
Enquiry emails and consent records are kept while there is an active relationship and for up to 24 months afterwards, then deleted. Policy Pack billing records are kept for the period tax law requires. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. You may ask at any time what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it: email enquiries@skylighteducation.com and we will respond within five working days.
Technical notes
This site uses no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising cookies. The only storage the site itself performs is a short-lived anti-spam timer inside each form, which never leaves your browser except as a number in the form you chose to send. Email is sent from our own domain, skylighteducation.com, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC in place, so you can verify that a message claiming to be from us really is.
